| Very early on I put a set of
OVERSIZED tires on the back of the car.... They looked great, filling up the
wheel wells... but they were
killing my off the line performance. The car felt kind of doggy from a
dead start. And those one tire burnouts were getting kind of old! So
it was time for some new rear gears and a limited slip differential! One
call the "Joint Clutch and Gear" in Bay City and I was set! We went with a
4.10 Ring & Pinion and a Ford Trac-Lok differential. |

Found an interesting sticker on the driveshaft!
It says "SCRAP IF DROPPED" Also the u-joints are staked in so they can't be
replaced... Guess it's a disposable drive shaft! |

A lot of folk berate the 7.5" rear end and put down the Ford Trac-Lok
differential. But my experience has been great so far! I have
absolutely abused the rear end something awful! At one point I was
hitting it with almost 500 ft/lbs of torque using a 125HP shot of N20!
Everything has held together with no signs of any problems! So I would take
everything the naysayer will tell you about this setup with a VERY LARGE
grain of salt! There are also plenty of other guys abusing this same
setup with great results! |
