The Barton Industries Shifter
Was looking to change the interior a little bit... One thing that came up that peaked my interest was changing the shifter. Ivy was developing a race ready, aggressive attitude and well, quite frankly the big, leather wrapped shifter just wasn't fitting in... it was time for it to go! Enter Barton Industries! Barton was making a very cool, pistol grip shifter for the automatic and they would also be attending Camaro5 Fest in Georgia. Perfect! Get the shifter, save on shipping and get it installed!
Upon arrival at the track, I headed over to the vendor area to find the Barton tent and check out their shifter in person. They had a "demo" unit setup in the tent. The shifter LOOKED GREAT and FELT GREAT! I was sold! So with a few simple tools in hand the Barton crew headed over to Ivy to install the new shifter! Well, as it turned out, Ivy was the first V6 that they had tried installing a shifter on and it seems that the V6 had some variation from the V8... heck there was even variations between Ivy and another V6 that she was parked next to! Got to love automotive tolerance! The new shifter was just not going to fit...
Now I completely understand about variatons from car to car and bringing out a new product... I completely understand how incredbily frustrating that has to be... It has to be so maddening! And with that in mind, I have say KUDOS to Dave, owner of Barton! Dave, took the time to explain to me why the shifter wasn't working and what needed to be done to correct the issue. He then thanked me for my patience and gave me a refund. All very cool! But then he went a step farther! He asked from my contact information and address, so that he could send me a new shifter when they made the changes to it, free of charge as a way of saying thank you for letting them try the shifter out on Ivy! WOW! Now that is amazing customer service! So a big thanks to Dave and the folks at Barton! Dave is truly a class act!
Now for a few pics!!!
